Sensing spaces (part 2)

To follow on from Saturday's post:
The quite imposing Blue Pavillion by Pezo von Ellrichshausen from Chile. Each of the columns houses a staircase to go up to the platform and experience the structure from another angle. And you get to see some beautiful features of the Royal Academy:

Then there is the dark room sculpture by Kengo Kuma. Thin bamboo sticks taped together at various points and illuminated from below.

And last in my series and my favourite, the Maze and Zen Garden by Li Xiadong, made out of Hazel sticks and acrylic LED panels:

Hope you are having a good start to the week. xx

Sensing spaces (part 1)

I got the opportunity to go to an early viewing at the Royal Academy yesterday morning. Sensing Spaces is Architecture reimagined. 7 architects from around the world were asked for their contribution to experience space and physically explore it. These unique spaces show the interaction between three factors: the nature of physical spaces, our perception of them, and their evocative power.

First in this series of installations the archways by Eduardo Souto de Moura:

Second the fun and colourful archway by Diebedo Francis Kéré: Honeycombed sound insulation material has been build into an archway and visitors are asked to contribute by adding a colourful straw to the structure:

A bit wild but ever changing and colourful! xx
